A one-pager that gets forwarded

The leave-behind PDF that has to work with nobody explaining it — written for the person your champion sends it to, not for your champion.

The prompt· 0/4 variables filled
~351 tokens
Write a one-pager. It has to work without me in the room.

WHAT IT'S ABOUT: {{OFFERING}}
WHO GETS IT FIRST: {{CHAMPION}}
WHO THEY FORWARD IT TO: {{REAL_READER}}
PROOF I CAN STAND BEHIND:
{{PROOF}}

Write it for the second reader — the one with no context and forty seconds.

Structure, one page:
- **A headline** stating the outcome, not the category. Not "AI-powered
reconciliation" — what changes for them.
- **Three sentences** on the problem, in the second reader's language, using
their unit of pain (days, headcount, risk, money).
- **How it works**, three steps maximum. No architecture.
- **Proof**, using only what I gave you, with the number first.
- **What it costs and what happens next**, stated plainly. Never "contact us
for pricing" without a range or a reason.
- **One honest limitation.** Who this is not for.

Then give me:
- **The forty-second test.** What the second reader takes away if they read only
the headline and the bold text. Write it out.
- **What my champion needs that this doesn't give them**, and whether that
belongs in a separate note rather than on the page.

Rules:
- Do not use "leading", "innovative", "seamless", "end-to-end", or "solution".
- Do not exceed one page. If it doesn't fit, cut the how-it-works section first.
- Do not invent proof. Write [NEEDS PROOF] instead.
- Do not write a call-to-action that requires a meeting as the only next step.

Tools for this prompt

Where the input below comes from. The ones marked needed change the output a lot — fallbacks for each are further down.

  • Canva MCPLaying the page out and exporting the PDF that actually gets forwarded.
  • Figma MCPIf you want it to match an existing brand system.

Fill in the blanks

Run it in:ClaudeChatGPT

What goes in each blank

OFFERING
What you're describing — product, service, proposal or programme.e.g. A reconciliation tool for finance teams at 20–200 person companies.
CHAMPION
Who receives it first and what they want to happen.e.g. The finance manager who already likes us and needs budget approved.
REAL_READER
Who they forward it to — the person who decides and has no context.e.g. The CFO, who will read it for 40 seconds between meetings.
PROOF
Numbers, results, references you can actually stand behind.e.g. Cut month-end close from 6 days to 2 at one customer; 3 references available.

Notes from people who use it

  • Writing for the forwarded-to reader is the whole trick. Your champion already believes you; the page isn't for them.
  • The honest limitation is what makes the rest credible, and it disqualifies bad-fit leads before they cost you a call.
  • Run the forty-second test on a colleague who knows nothing about it. If they get it wrong, the headline is the problem.

What to bring

This prompt is only as good as what you feed it. Web search covers anything public — these are the inputs it can't reach.

  • Canva MCP

Laying the page out and exporting the PDF that actually gets forwarded.

Don't have it: Deliver the structured outline and text; the user lays it out wherever they like.

  • Figma MCP

If you want it to match an existing brand system.

Don't have it: Ask the user to describe the screen, or paste a screenshot.

Only tools that web search cannot replace are listed. Anything public — reviews, job ads, papers, salary data — an agent can already fetch, so it is not listed here. No paid placements or affiliate links; if that changes, this line will say so.

# A one-pager that gets forwarded

The leave-behind PDF that has to work with nobody explaining it — written for the person your champion sends it to, not for your champion.

## Inputs to collect first

Ask the user for anything below that they have not already given you. Do not
invent values for these.

- `OFFERING` — What you're describing — product, service, proposal or programme. (e.g. A reconciliation tool for finance teams at 20–200 person companies.)
- `CHAMPION` — Who receives it first and what they want to happen. (e.g. The finance manager who already likes us and needs budget approved.)
- `REAL_READER` — Who they forward it to — the person who decides and has no context. (e.g. The CFO, who will read it for 40 seconds between meetings.)
- `PROOF` — Numbers, results, references you can actually stand behind. (e.g. Cut month-end close from 6 days to 2 at one customer; 3 references available.)

## Tools this works with

Do not require any of these. If one is unavailable, use the stated fallback and
say which input is missing rather than inventing it.

- **Canva** — Laying the page out and exporting the PDF that actually gets forwarded. If its MCP server is connected, fetch this yourself.
  - Without it: Deliver the structured outline and text; the user lays it out wherever they like.
- **Figma** — If you want it to match an existing brand system. If its MCP server is connected, fetch this yourself.
  - Without it: Ask the user to describe the screen, or paste a screenshot.

Written for the second reader

Almost all collateral is written for the person you hand it to. But that person is already convinced — that is why they took it. The document's actual job starts when they forward it to someone who has never heard of you and is deciding between six things.

Naming both readers separately changes the vocabulary, the length, and what goes in bold.

The honest limitation

Marketers cut this line and it is the one that makes the page trustworthy. A document that claims to suit everyone reads as marketing; one that says who it is not for reads as information, and gets forwarded further.
